Waterford City Harbor, Waterford, NY - 6/8/12

We slept in late today so we would have the energy to tackle a couple tough boat chores.  First on the list was to disable the overboard pump out system.  That involved actually removing and capping the line that connects the holding tank to the thru hull.  Needless to say ... that was a crappy job!

Next on the list was to remove the windless and take it apart to see why it wouldn't work.  If you have ever had the experience of crawling into an anchor locker and then try to work overhead, you can sympathize with what was happening.  When I got it apart it was full of water which apparently made the grease too thick to let the gears turn.  After cleaning all the goop out, I reattached the motor without the gearbox to the power and had Ricki engage the windless switch to make sure the motor was OK.  What little bit of grease that was still around the worm drive flew all over me inside the anchor locker.

Mid afternoon we got a call from Moor $tuff that they were coming to Waterford along with Rickshaw.  It was a very pleasant surprise so we planned a social hour on Quest that evening followed by dinner on Rickshaw. This will definitely be the last few days that we will spend with these folks since Rickshaw & Moor $tuff have plans that take them in a different direction than what we are going.

  1. Wondering which corrective action would have been the most fun to watch!
