Burlington Boathouse, Burlington, VT - 6/15/12

We had a delightful breakfast with Bill & Joyce on Quest this morning before leaving.  We had planned to go to the Canadian border but when I was plotting our course up the lake on the GPS I found that it did not have charts for Quebec.  I called West marine in Burlington and they found a chip in Watertown, NY which we are having it sent over night to their store so we had to alter our plans and go to Burlington.

Leaving Westport
We pulled away from the docks at 11 a.m ....

Lake Champlain

For an easy ride up the Champlain.

This was typical of the depths we found in the lake which is the lower left corner.  The GPS gives us a lot of info for those that aren't familiar. Upper left is our speed over ground next to our anticipated arrival time followed by on the upper right our present course. Second left line is distance to the next turn next to how far we are left of our plotted line and the course we would need to take to get back on the plotted line.  As you can see I am cutting the corner a little.  The small numbers in the picture are the charted depths that we are going over. Lower right are the current coordinates.

Coming into Burlington Harbor

Burlington Boathouse Breakwater
We arrived at our destination at 2 p.m.and found our assigned slip. Now we have to hope our GPS chip shows up at 11 a.m. because the marina is sold out for Saturday night and we will have to leave if they don't get a cancellation.

Ferry Dock

College Street
We walked up the hill to the downtown section to look around.

Bank Building
I always wondered what they did with old banks ... this one is a restaurant.

Church Street Mall
On top of the hill about 5 blocks from the marina is a whole street turned into a mall with lots of places to eat and spend money.

Cute
We stopped at a pub along the street mall and had a delicious burger then started back down the hill to the boat about 7 p.m., loaded Skpe on our laptop and video talked with Jason and the kids then daughter Christine.  Boaters midnight is 9 p.m. but we stayed up very late until 9:30.
