Goodbye Rickshaw |
Shortly after 8 a.m. Jim & Belinda pulled away from Waterford and headed into Lock #2 on the Erie Canal. We have really enjoyed their company since first meeting them at Gloucester Point, VA last year.
|
Farmer's Market |
The waterfront was converted into a Farmer's Market and the ladies enjoyed shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables.

Goodbye Moor $tuff |
Generator problems plagued us again when we were ready to leave Waterford with Carried Away. After spending time with Skip & Bill eliminating the automatic shut down sensors as the cause to no avail, we decided to call ahead to Whitehall where we will be on Wednesday to get it repaired. In the meantime we can run several hours a day without loosing our refrigeration and will stop at docks with electric for overnight stays.

Lock 1 - Hudson River |
Our first lock of the day came rather quickly after leaving. We had to purchase a permit to use the canal locks at this lock.
|
Riding up on the cable |
We chose to ride the cable up with a rope around it back to midship cleat. They also have grimy ropes hanging over the wall that you can hold.
|
The Canal |
Since we only had 9 miles to go with two locks, we really enjoyed our slow run up the canal. After passing through the second lock we arrived at Mechanicville.
|
Rudy |
We stopped at the free dock in Mechanicville and after dinner with Bill & Joyce, enjoyed playing with this little guy.

Rudy's Family |
Tomorrow our plans are to continue another 30 miles or so to Fort Edward for the night.

We enjoyed meeting you at the Mechanicville Dock, and especially the tour of your yacht. Thank you for your hospitality, and hope that you have a safe trip. Joyce & Kirk
