Today we decided to take the historical tour of Mackinaw City and St. Ignace on the Trolley Tour bus.

The lake is extremely shallow for quite a distance from shore then gets very deep slowly. This picture is from the Mackinaw Bridge

St. Ignace has a big Indian influence. Both cities are dependent on tourist trade for survival and it shows with all the motels and restaurants. The population of Mackinaw City is under 1,000 and not much more for St. Ignace.

Tomorrow the wind is supposed to be 5 mph with waves of 2 ft or less so we plan to head out on the lake for Charlevoix.
