On Thursday afternoon small craft warnings were posted to last from 11 p.m. through 11 a.m. Friday but when we got up this morning things didn't look bad at all and since storms were predicted to come in on the weekend which would keep us here several more days, we shoved off for Mackinaw City a mere 9 miles across the Straits of Mackinaw at 8:30. The Straits were famous for being nasty and today turned out to be just that. As soon as we cleared the light between Lake Huron and the Straits the waves kicked up a little with winds from the north and we were headed west. A little over half way out it really started blowing and it kicked our butts. Even the table on the sundeck went flying and turned over. Furniture was sliding all over the place and the boat was a mess. We got to Sheplers Marine about 10 a.m. to have our props changed and then into our slip at the marina which was connected to the marine yard.
After we regained control of our senses we walked across the street for something to eat.
We found a neat restaurant with a cowboy theme and had a late lunch/early dinner.Since we haven't done any laundry since Killarney, we checked out the facilities at the marina and decided to wash our stuff.
