Our plan today was to leave at 7 a.m. and hope for a smooth ride to Frankfort, 42 miles away.
|
Leland Marina |
We left the marina followed by Queen Kathleen.
|
Leaving the Marina |
The water was predicted to be 2 foot or less but turned out to be 2 to 4 foot with big swells that hit us on the beam for the first five miles. When we turned south the north wind gave us even larger swells and waves but from the stern. Auto pilot does not work well when this happens because it constantly tries to correct and is just a little too slow to react. Seaquel can run faster than us and got up on plane to beat the waves.
|
Michigan Sand Dunes |
Later the trip got a little smoother and we passed some beautiful sand dunes.
|
Frankfort Light |
We turned into the marina a little after 11 a.m. which was close to an hour after Seaquel and an hour ahead of Queen Kathleen. We stopped at the fuel dock and got fuel and a pump out before heading to slip 66.
|
Marina Pet |
We filled our water tanks at the slip and as Queen Kathleen was filling their water this pretty swan came to greet us. Of course we gave her/him lots of bread to eat.
|
Marina Park |
Nice waterfront with a park that separated the marina from downtown.Downtown was very nice and several blocks long.

Should have bought it |

Happy Hour |
Happy Hour at 5:30 with all the loopers in the marina.

Happy Hour |
See ... we even have food at these things, not just liquids! Sometimes enough foods that dinner is skipped.
Tomorrow the forecast is good and we will move on down the lake. Looks like quite a few of the loopers will leave with us at 8 a.m.
