Our day began at 8 a.m. when we left Blind River in the company of Seaquel and Queen Kathleen and headed for the USA and De Tour Village in Michigan.

North Channel |
We needed to go a few miles off the rocky coast line before turning west and we had a beam sea with 2 to 3 foot waves which was a little uncomfortable. Seaquel is a 43 foot Tia Yacht and capable of much faster speed so they took off and left the two trawlers.

Aqua Water |
The water here is almost the same color as being in the Gulf. After we turned west we had the seas on our stern and was able to surf a little.
|
U.S. Coast Guard |
50 miles into the trip we turned into the St. Marys River which is a major shipping route between the great lakes and was greeted by the Coast Guard. We were not boarded but later found out that Seaquel was boarded.

De Tour Marina Break Wall |
We pulled into the marina at 2 p.m. and called the Customs Office and found out that although the others had cleared Customs this way, we could not because we did not have another required "BR" number. We were also told we could not get off the boat or have anyone on the boat until we did clear. Since we came in here on fumes and needed fuel, we could not get off to fuel or travel to Drummond Island a few miles away to have a face to face clearance. Shortly after 6 p.m. 2 Customs officers showed up at the boat with "attitude" since they were probably off duty on their way home and we got cleared.
Then happy hour got underway on Quest with our friends.

Otters Playing
|
We spotted several of these critters frolicking around in the water. Apparently they are regulars here according to other boaters.
After a long day we decided to skip dinner and just relax before turning in for the night.
Looks like the wind is going to kick up for a couple days so we might just stay here.
