Since we have decided to stay another day or so due to high winds on the water, we decided to explore the town. De Tour is located in the upper peninsula of Michigan and the folks here are known as Yoopers.

St. Marys River |
Looking out from the marina is a major shipping channel between the great lakes and several big freighters go by each day.
|
Old Man of the Sea |
As we left the marina on our walk we passed this neat wood sculpture on a tree that had been cut down.
|
Neat House |
This home was really neat. We found out later in a small craft shop that it belongs to the co-owner of the shop.
After stopping by an ATM to get some good old US currency, we decided to try this bar for a late lunch. We had a couple of the best burgers we have tasted in a long time.

Ready for Winter |
This is got to be the biggest wood pile ever. We were told that this guy does this every year for personal use.

IGA Store |
On our way back to the marina we stopped for a few things at the grocery store. Not being in one for days, we kinda went overboard and ended up buying more than we could carry back to the boat. We decided that I could return later and get some of the bigger items using our pull cart however the owner of the store told us to just push the grocery cart to the marina and they would get it later. Talk about small town friendliness! They really like the tourist trade.

Marina Entertainment |
After all this exercise of walking around, we took naps before the scheduled entertainment on the marina grounds. This happens several Saturdays during the summer and attracts a large crowd. The music was great.
During our walk we spotted an Episcopal Church with services at 11:30 which we plan to attend tomorrow.
Looks like Monday will be a good day to attack Lake Huron and go to Mackinac Island where we have reservations.
