Dozier's Regatta Point Marina-5/11/12

The rendezvous ended Thursday night and although we had reservations through Friday night, we decided along with Next Endeavor to shove off Friday morning for Deltaville, VA if the weather was decent.

Elliott at the helm
Our 7:30 a.m. meeting Friday morning indicated that the weather would be out of the NW at 5 to 10 mph which would help break it over land and that the seas would be 2 ft or less so we agreed to leave at 8:30.

Next Endeavor
Next Endeavor left the marina first ...

Carried Away
Followed by our next door neighbor Carried Away who was going to York River Yacht Haven. Then we pulled out and assumed a position between the two other boats.  Several loopers had already left the marina and several others had cancelled plans to leave based on weather.

Dirty Fender
This is what a fender looks like after a week in the water.  Ricki spent part of the morning cleaning and waxing them.

Navy Warship
We had heard radio conversations of war ships moving around and passed this one coming into the Bay.

Dozier's Marina
The weather reports were a little off.  We had wind at least 10 to 15 mph out of the NE which put it on our bow and the waves were 2 foot and more making a very bumping ride for over 6 hours and 58 miles to Deltaville.

Happy Hour
It seems that anytime several loopers land in the same place we find a reason to get together.  Dozier's have planned a BBQ for Saturday night and a Mother's Day breakfast for Sunday which is real thoughtful.  This place is just great with a lounge, pool, laundry, several courtesy cars (Mercedes no less) and up to date facilities.  One of the nicest on the loop and also home to the Waterway Guides & Skipper Bob books.

Quest in the slip
This is the same slip we occupied on our trip back from DC last year. The marina has about 30 or 40 slips which many looper boats will be in by Saturday night.

Colleen & Lewis Colam
About dusk this young Englishman pulled into the marina.  He is rowing solo from Miami to NY a distance of 1,400 miles for Alzheimer's Research and was inspired to do this by his ex-girlfriend's grandmother having the disease.  He has been invited to the White House later this month.  If you are interested in finding out more about him and his trip, visit www.iamfinechallenge.org which he keeps current.

We will be here until Monday morning when we head on up the Bay.

Our position is N 37  33.579  W 076  18.763
