We woke up to a beautiful morning. It was a little foggy but was suppose to burn off by noon so we said our goodbyes to the Craigs and pulled away with our destination of a pump out, fuel and on to Annapolis. We purchased 154 gallons of diesel and 9 gallons of gas for our dinghy for $626.00. Good thing we don't have to do this very often as this may last us until Cape May, DE.

Fish Fence |
We followed 2 other trawlers out of the creek at 9:25 a.m. and as we turned into the bay we maneuvered around this fish fence then set our course for Annapolis. Chart plotters are a big help since you can program your entire trip right into the marina and like the one we use in the car, gives you a good guess of when you will arrive.
Wind Song |
The two boats we were following were running a little slower than we prefer and as we passed the lead boat discovered that it was another looper "Wind Song". We chatted for awhile and found out they really didn't know where they were going to land ... either St. Michael's or Oxford on the eastern shore.
Cargo Ship |
We passed several cargo ships and many fishermen. There was hardly a time that I didn't have at least 5 or 6 blips on my radar which was set for 6 miles.
Before & After |
Ricki is still on her mission to clean and wax all our fenders. We are carrying 8 big fenders and 2 large ball fenders for the Canadian locks.
Chesapeake Bay |
This was my view for most of the day. The Bay was as near perfect as we could ask for but not totally smooth.
Government Boat |
We have seen several of these boats and wonder what they do. Must be funded by our tax dollars since they appear to be burning a bunch of fuel.
Thomas Point Shoal Light |
A couple miles before turning into the Severn River we passed the Thomas point light.
Race |
This sailboat race was going on as we turned into the river. They had red markers on the corners and range boats to make sure a boater didn't stray into their race.
Severn River |
Five large cargo ships could be seen at the mouth of the river and we needed to make sure they were not moving before trying to go through them since they move several times faster than our boat.
At Anchor |
Don't know why but they were all at anchor and from the water line on their bottom they also appeared to be empty.
Pirate Ship |
This pirate (party) boat was in the same channel we were using.
Naval Academy |
Making our turn from the river into Spa Creek the Academy Dome came into view.
Tour Boat |
The tour boat was also at anchor at the mouth of Spa Creek. They had just loaded several folks into the dinghy and headed for downtown.
State Capital |
Maryland State Capital Dome could also be seen from the creek.
Our Marina |
Just before the bridge we turned west into Annapolis City Marina which is actually in Eastport across the creek from historic Annapolis. We can either take the short walk across the bridge to the historic part or a water taxi is available.
Next Boat? |
She still is a dreamer!! We entered slip #76 at 2:45 and relaxed awhile after signing in at the office. Dockage here is $2.50 per foot LOA so they even count the anchor and swim platform. This will only get worse until we get to the Erie Canal.
Ready to Race |
Every Wednesday at 6 p.m. there are sailboat races in the creek.
Races |
Very exciting! Little boats just squirting around in every direction but no accidents.
Thursday we will play tourist and go into downtown and spend the day and then plan our trip to Baltimore for Friday. Traveling alone we not only chart our trip but also have to check weather, wind and tides then make the decision to move or stay put.
Don't forget ... to enlarge the pictures just click on any picture and they all will appear as a film strip so enjoy.
