Back to the Boat - 5/2/12

A couple of weeks ago we came down to the boat with our truck and borrowed trailer (thanks Randy & Beth) loaded with all the stuff we took home last fall.  Since we had visions of trading the trawler for a smaller boat that would be more "river friendly" when we returned home, we had taken everything that was not nailed down home and had a real big load to put back on the boat. Last December our boat was vandalized and the helm was really a mess when I came down to file the police report.  Fortunately the only thing we have found that was missing was the 18 hp outboard for our dinghy however several other items were found under the boat where they had placed them in anticipation of picking them up later.  Apparently something spooked them since we did recover some of our electronics and safety items. 

We worked on the boat painting and waxing the bottom & hull for several days before putting it back into the water.  Ricki cleaned the sundeck & gave the carpet a good shampoo.  We were able to put it back into the water on 5/18 and returned back to WV on 5/20 so we could get to a Barry Manlow concert in Columbus on 5/21.  The Hanna's returned to the boat with us on 5/2 and left this morning (5/4) for WV.  We have a heat exchanger O ring to replace today and put all our stuff that we brought with us on this trip away then shove off tomorrow for Norfolk.  We are excited to see our friends Barb & Skip and Stan & Colleen who will be there and may be heading north with us on 5/12.
