We
left our mooring at Lock #39 at 8:30 a.m. when it opened and we locked through
with Marc’s Ark and headed for the next lock ½ mile away. Lock #40 had several boats on their wall so
we had a full lock as we dropped another 20 plus feet.
We entered Lake Simcoe for the 15 mile run across which was
a nice ride. We passed through some very
pretty but shallow narrows where we bumped and then into Lake Couchiching which
was also shallow and full of stumps which we also found. Hope we can stand the vibration until after
the rocks of Georgian Bay before changing props again.

Famous mile 209 Railroad Swing Bridge |
The guy that opens this bridge is notorious for making boats wait and we were no exception. Being first in line, I signaled the bridge opening with 3 horn blasts then we waited at least 20 minutes before a train crossed. Then were were finally told it would be another 5 minutes until it would open.

We got to Swift Rapids at 4:30 having covered 46 miles today
and were joined on the lock wall by KARMA, Paddy Wagon, Blue Heron and Marc’s
Ark. Of course 6 p.m. found all of us
enjoying Happy Hour on the park bench.
