Hastings, ON, Lock Wall – 7/1/12

Farmer's Market
We didn’t have far to go today only 20 miles, so another  trip to the donut shop was in order before we left.  Ricki & Michelle made the trip and stopped by an outdoor market on their way as well to pick up some fresh veggies.

Old Mill Park
At 8:55 we left for Hastings which was a short trip but the next stop, Peterborough, was just a little too far for a day that has 6 locks to go through.

Lock Master's House
Each lock is very nice and very well kept.  It almost seems like they are in competition with the other locks with nice flowers and well maintained grounds.

Another Nice House

Look Dad ... a fish
We arrived at 2 p.m. at the lock wall above lock 18 which is very serene.  There is no power on the wall so we have to run the genset periodically to keep our refrigerators cold.  We went to a local restaurant recommended by the lock master for light appetizers and a cold beverage to take the edge off before dinner.  Michelle is making taco salad which is one of our favorites later.

Appetizers & Beer

Downtown Hastings

After dinner we walked to a convenience store next to the lock wall and had ice cream before calling it a night.
