Norfolk, VA - 8/5/11 & 8/6/11

8/5/11

We spent the day looking at marinas for winter storage of Quest. We actually looked and talked with 3 different marinas in the lower Chesapeake area with the idea of being close to Norfolk for next springs AGLCA meeting. We have tentatively selected York River Yacht Haven as our choice. This pretty much blew the day traveling and we spent the evening on the boat.

8/6/11

This was chore day. We have an A/C unit in our stateroom that is leaking water on the floor so I tore it out and discovered a crimped drain tube. Due to the location of the unit, it took about 3 hours to hopefully fix it. Next on the list was all 6 thru hull strainers that haven't been cleaned since the Dismal Swamp and all the stinky duck weed we encountered. Since it involved tearing up all the floor engine covers, Ricki hit the street to watch a Reggae parade. The following are some of the 45 pictures she took.

Notice the wheels on the costume.....

Now there's a drum line .....

The music and partying went well into the night. At times it sounded like thunder outside.

Later in the day we went to Virginia Beach to get water and sand for Ricki's crab. This poor thing has traveled from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and now Virginia. We keep confusing him with sand and water from different places.

Tomorrow we will sit down with Skip & Barb when they return from a couple days in Jamestown/Williamsburg and see if we have the same plans for the next few weeks. We want to be in D.C. by 8/15 to catch up with family. It is starting to look like an early September exit from our travels for this year and we will be spending the winter in WV unless it gets too cold for us.
