The ride today was along one of the prettiest rivers we have been on to date. It was lined with cypress trees with an occasional opening and very few dead trees. After 18 miles or so the pressure gauge on my starboard transmission began to fall for the second straight day. Last night I discovered it was 2 quarts low on fluid when I did the engine checks and suspicion the same thing was happening again. I called Skip and advised him of the problem since I was the lead boat today and made plans to stop at the next marina only 3 miles away. It appears that the transmission has developed a leak into the raw water cooler and will need replacement so we are down for a few days in Wacca Wache Marina in Murrells Inlet. After diagnosis Moor $tuff continued on to Barefoot Landing in order to take care of another round of treatments for Skip's leg issue.
The good news is that the new A/C unit installed yesterday by Southeastern Marine of the Carolina's is working like a charm. Not only was the installation flawless, the price was more than reasonable. This is not a paid endorsement ... just a happy customer.
As we sat in the boat between rain showers this large yacht passed by. We have seen Mystic several times before but can't remember where.
The marina is lovely and seems like a little paradise in the middle of nowhere. There are times we listen for banjo music coming out of the swamps. We are told it is about 4 miles east to highway 17 and all the restaurants in the area. There is a small but real neat restaurant/bar in the marina building which has entertainment every night. We will try to get a rental car so we can explore while waiting the repairs. Tomorrow is supposed to be much nicer and much warmer but I am sure we will wonder around the property for more photos. Looks like we will be here at least thru Monday since parts will have to obtained from either Charleston or Detroit.
Our position here is N 33 33.741 W 79 05.165
