McClellanville, SC - 7/7/11

Moor $tuff and Quest left Charleston Municipal Marina at 8:50 this morning to travel the 38 miles to McClellanville, SC. There was a big fishing tournament starting today and the marina was practically empty when we left.

After a few miles on Charleston Harbor we turned to port to re-enter the AICW with Fort Sumter on our starboard.

At 1:45 we pulled into LeLand Oil Company for our overnight visit. This is a very small marina with 8 total slips. We were tied to the fuel dock.

After showers and some down time, we heard about a restaurant (the ONLY) a few blocks away so we started walking and passed this little Episcopal Church on the way. This town has about 500 residents and seems really neat.

Take a look at this little tree and read the sign in the next photo. apparently this town doesn't get hit with violent storms because we saw many large trees and no evidence of damage anywhere.

We saw several nice period homes along the way.

And finally came to the restaurant. The only other food establishment is The Seafood Company which is a carry out.

A view of the street outside the restaurant. All the streets we saw were pretty much the same ... lined with big trees hanging over the street.

The restaurant was full and we had to wait on a table so we ordered adult beverages to cool off after our walk. Everyone we met from the waitresses to the local sheriff deputies in the restaurant were so friendly. The deputy even came over to our table after we ate to see if we were happy with the place.

As we left even the owner who was the chef, waved to us.

Tomorrow at 8 a.m. our new A/C unit is supposed to be here so we will probably leave for the 30 plus mile trip to Georgetown shortly after that.

Our location is N 33 04.984 W 79 27.752

  1. Are you certain the Deputy Sheriff stopped by your table to see how you liked the restaurant or just to make sure that you weren't going to cause any trouble? He has probably seen your kind before ...
