Sanford, FL - 6/4/11

Last night we made plans for breakfast that involved catching the ferry across the river at 8:30 a.m. As we waited for the ferry I took this picture of our boats at the marina. Left to right - Lucky One, Quest and  Moor $tuff. The river is down several feet due to no rain and our boats only have a little over a foot of water under them.

David and Agnes (AKA our drug runners) were waiting on us on the other side. We all have had stuff from home as well as other ordered things mailed to their house and we appreciate them bringing them to us. Huen did not go because he was waiting on a phone call and Mike and Peggy called that they would be unable to join us so it was just the 7 of us for breakfast.

We went to a Spanish Sugar Mill for breakfast that was in Ponce de Leon State Park and supposed to be the "original" Fountain of Youth". Ricki saw young folks playing in the pool and wondered how old they were before entering and risked just getting her feet wet. We are now waiting to see if her feet get smaller or if any wrinkles do leave.

The water fall coming out of the pool.

While waiting on our turn to go into the restaurant, we all toured a museum next to the pool. Along with artifacts in cases, there were murals all around the ceiling.

A mural of the museum.

The Fountain of Youth pool.

Inside the restaurant. The mechanism on the opposite side of the wheel. The tables had grills in front of each 4 customers where you prepared your own meal of pancakes or french toast and even your own eggs. Some of the best pancakes we have ever had.

As we left the restaurant, the pool was busier ......

With lots of people all around it as well.

We were entertained for a few minutes by this "mating dance"

A critter that was on the road going back to the car.

This pontoon boat had come into the marina after we had left this morning. Check out the unique decorations hanging from the bimini.

We pulled out of the marina and headed further south. As I said earlier, it was shallow in the marina and Quest got into the bottom with the starboard prop so we will have to see if any damage occur ed. We rounded a corner not far from the marina and encountered this raft up. Kinda brings back memories of BYC. They were really into their party as we passed and it was tempting to join.

The boy scouts were out in their canoes. We must have passed a dozen or more of them.

Another bend in the river saw these bikini clad cowgirls swimming with their trusty horses, however .....

The paint horse went under and when it came up threw its young rider and kicked her in the head. Her riding partner jumped in the water and is pulling her out. Probably saved a bad scene.

We pulled into Monroe Harbor Marina in a stiff wind and got tied up just before 4 p.m. traveling just 19 miles today. This stowaway was on the swim platform of the boat across from us. Glad it is just a toy!

The six of us walked the short few blocks into downtown Sanford and found a German restaurant that many folks have recommended. Complete with German entertainment and food it was a real enjoyable place.

We decided to celebrate Skip's birthday a little late so Ricki and I got him a 2 liter beer in a boot which if he couldn't drink it in one pass, tradition has it he will have 7 years of bad sex.

Feeling sorry for him, we passed it around to help ....

More help .......

More help .........

And even our "designated driver" when we have wheels helped.

The music was fantastic and caused "some of us" to get more involved than others.

The end of the evening found us finally getting home, I mean back to the boat, and up the ladder to the sundeck. We usually go stern into the slips when possible since our power cords come off the back so we use the stern ladder most of the time.

We will be here until Wednesday and plan to go to Disney World one day and the ladies all have appointments (thanks to Agnes) to visit the hair salon on Tuesday.

Our position in Sanford is N 28 48.858 W 81 15.885
