Jacksonville, FL - 6/13/11

Reynolds Park Marina is actually closed on Sunday so we had to wait until after 9 a.m. to go to the office to square up for our nights dockage. We ran into Capt. David Peden again in the office and finally got off the dock about 9:30.

The river is very wide from here to the AICW. After traveling against the tide for awhile and loosing about 1 mph, we picked up the falling tide and ran over 10 mph until we got to our stop for the night.

We pulled into the FREE Metro Marina shortly after 1 p.m. completing our 26 mile run for the day. Although dockage is free you still pay for your electric at this kiosk which was $8.56 for 24 hours. Dock space is free for up to 72 hours unless it is a special event weekend. The Gator Bowl is within walking distance so I am sure it gets plenty of use during football season.

We are the only boats in the marina and it must have 100 slips. After we landed a Jacksonville Water Cop came by to make sure we were happy campers or needed anything to make our stay more enjoyable. Huen rented a van and went looking for filters for his genset since it has refused to keep running. We had dinner on our sundeck while it rained really hard.

Tomorrow we will catch the falling tide to complete our 18 mile journey to the AICW and will probably end up at Fernandina Marina.

Our position tonight is N 30 19.198 W 81 38.498
