Anchor (Turkey Island) - 6/11/11

FINALLY ... ON THE MOVE AGAIN!

We pulled out of Monroe Harbor Marina at 8:20 and headed back north again. We have really enjoyed this part of the river and the folks here at the marina have made us feel very welcome. Apparently they do not get very many loopers here and were happy we stopped.

As we passed Hontoon Resort we spotted Lady pioneer which is the boat belonging to Mike & Peggy. Boat looked very nice with all the new canvas and was as shiny as a new one. Good job Mike.

My wild life photographer was at it again. She needed a pix of a blue heron to add to her collection.

At the Whitehair bridge this is the "no wake cop" that yells at everyone regardless of your speed.

The fires in southern Florida made it very hazy and hard on the eyes and nose for most of the day.

We stopped at Georgetown Marina for fuel. It took 2 hours for all of us to top off! Absolutely the SLOWEST pumps I have ever seen. I took on 160 gallons for the 234 miles since the last fill up but we have run the genset each time we move to keep the cabins cool so I am sure that knocked some off the mileage.

This bird was on top of the marina shed. Don't have a clue what it was but it was cool.

Killing time waiting on the pump to run.

Diesel in Florida pump price does NOT include 7% tax. Our bill for 160 gallons was only $684!

Skip had already completed his fill up and is waiting.

Our anchorage tonight is Turkey Island about mile 94 on the St. Johns River. We rafted up behind the island with Lucky One anchored into the current and Moor $tuff & Quest on each side anchored opposite of Lucky One. We are now back into tidal currents so I had all 200 feet of chain out on my anchor.

Tomorrow we will go on into Green Cove Springs which will be our next to last stop on the river. We have to plan the tide past Jacksonville since it is 5 foot and is very swift.

Our position at anchor is N 29 29.916 W 81 40.675
