Gainsville, AL (Anchorage) - 11/13/10

Not much excitment today. We left Marina Cove at 7:45 a.m. in order to meet the other boats we have been traveling with at the lock at 8:a.m. Coming out of the marina was not as eventful as the entrance since the marina called the dredge and asked them to lower the submerged spoil pipe. The Tenn-Tom is starting to get real pretty with the tree colors and nice water although as you can see from the GPS it is also getting a little crooked. The three boats (Next Endeavour, Moor $tuff and Quest) decided to run easy and stop about 40 miles down river at an anchorage just outside the Howell Heflin Lock at MM 265.8 on what is know as the Oxbow. We had a long wait of about an hour at the lock so we dropped the hook and just chilled out. We actually anchored about 3:30 and decided to raft all 3 boats so we could eat together. We had Walmart chicken and many sides. Colleen (Next Endeavour) is seen adding the whipped cream to Ricki's desert. The last picture is left to right - Barb & Skip (Moor $tuff), Stan (Next Endeavour) and the folks from Quest. Tomorrow we will hit the Demopolis Yacht Basin before heading into no mans land (No cell or air card service) we have been told. We will be anchoring out after leaving Demopolis then go to Bobby's Fish Camp, anchor out again before Mobile. We will be getting there a couple days later that we thought but that should not create a problem. Tomorrow we expect rain for the next couple days so that will make traveling a little unpleasant but we have had such gorgeous weather how can we complain.
Our position tonight is N32 48.785 W 88 08.714

  1. Is the COE going to have to raise the bridge for you at Jackson, Alabama?
