Aberdeen Marina, Aberdeen, MS - 11/9/10

When we called in for reservations at Midway Marina yesterday they told us that the Fulton Lock would be closing at 8 a.m the next morning until 4 p.m. Our friends on "Next Endevour" decided to go on thru the lock and anchor somewhere on the other side.
The other two of us decided to spend the night at Midway and make a run for the lock next morning since it was only 3 miles. Long story short ... fog happens! We waited until 7:15 a.m. and it LOOKED like it was clearing so off
we went. "Precious Times" GPS had failed so we led the way and things were somewhat OK for the first 1 1/2 mile then the curtain of fog hit us. "Precious Times" actually lost following us once however I could see them on radar. When we got a few hundred yards from the lock it cleared and you can see the picture as we were being lowered down. The Tenn-Tom is very unusual. At time it is wide and beautiful then around the corner there is crap everywhere. The picture with the AGLCA burgee is entering the twisting off channel route into Aberdeen Marina which is nothing short of a hidden paradise. Everything you could want/need is either close or on premise. We took the marina courtesty Lincoln to Walmart for Ricki's shopping fix them joined our freinds on "Precious Times" for adult beverages and snacks. Tomorrow we will catch up with the other boat "Next Endevour" at Columbus Marina which will only be one lock and about 23 miles. So far we have gone thru 27 locks whithout a problem. There is only 5 more on the Tenn Tom before we reach tidal waters at mile 116.6 with Mobile being mile 0 on the river.
Our present location is N 33 50.389 W 88 30.504

  1. Trying to figure your next leg. Will it be Pirates Marina Cove at Pickensville or on to Demopolis? Humm!
