We had planned to leave for Baltimore a little earlier than 9:50 a.m. but when we started getting the boat ready .... another race started and we couldn't move until they passed.
Another Sailboat Race |
Our neighbor in the sailboat beside us told us that these boats were Olympic Class boats and this was know as the "Old Geezer and crew" races or there was at least one person "our age" in each boat.
Tour Boat |
As we approached the harbor we started seeing the effects of tourism.
Entering Baltimore Harbor |
Hospital Ship |
Fort McHenry |
Kinda gives you goose bumps thinking that the national Anthem was written here.
Navy Ship |
As we progressed thru the harbor toward the Inner Harbor we passed this Navy Ship. Don't know why it was here but glad it is.
Harbor Transportation |
Tomorrow we will catch the water taxi to take us across this harbor to play tourist. It costs $10 per person but covers all day and multiple boardings since there are many different places to visit.
Pirate Ship |
Empty Water Condos |
There were two of these condos side by side and both appeared to be empty. Notice the shrubs on the roof.
Water "Hoover" |
This is how they keep the harbors clean of debris.
Aquarium |
One of Ricki's favorite places to visit so we will catch it tomorrow.
Baltimore Inner Harbor Marine Center |
We arrived in our slip at 1:45 having covered 33 miles and discovered the marina is about 50% empty. Could it be the $2.50 per foot plus $18 for utilities per day?
Pit Bull on left / Bull Dog on Right (Kid in Middle) |
We walked around part of the harbor and saw this kid with his dogs outside Hooter's where we had just had dinner.
9 Weeks Old |
Inner Harbor Crowd |
There are many shops and restaurants around the harbor plus areas for volleyball, bands playing and grassy areas with lots of folks relaxing.
Our position tonight is N 39 16.947 W 076 36.478
