Ft. Pierce, FL - 5/10/11

We left Sunset Bay Marina at 9 a.m. with our traveling companions, Moor $tuff & Lucky One for the 30 mile trip to Ft. Pierce City Marina.
Sunset Bay Marina is probably one of the nicest facility that we have encountered so far on the trip. The organized way they had us approach it and get docked was a first for us.

Back through the 3 bridges on the St. Lucie River and the 8 mile trip back to the AICW.

Again we were third in line and followed Lucky One. Huen has had a heating problem with his starboard Cummins engine that we hope to get repaired in Cocoa Beach on Friday.

Ricki & Linda took turns taking pictures of each other on the way.

For those that have never seen love bugs .... they are everywhere and leave a tarry mess. They have been know to actually plug a car radiator with their goo. I guess they got the name because, if you enlarge the photo you will notice 2 of them stuck together. Ricki was sure she saw one couple smoking a cigarette!

More nice homes along the river.

Back through Hells Gate and into St. Lucie Inlet. Then a turn to the port and north on the AICW again.

We turned off the AICW at MM 965.9 into the Ft. Pierce City Marina. Here we are waiting for Moor $tuff to dock and then Lucky One will enter and dock before we get our turn. Although the tide here is only less than 2 feet, we were at ebe tide and the current and wind was pretty strong.

Linda's brother Ron was close by on his Coast Guard boat and came to visit her and later joined us for dinner at the marina restaurant.

Barb & Skip also had friends they had met in Mexico visit and join all of us for dinner. Skip's friend Bob is the one who spotted Skip & I in Sloppy Joe's in Key West on the web cam from his home in Washington state and busted us with a phone call to Barb while she and Ricki were shopping. We tried to explain we were just saving seats for the ladies to join us!

Ricki & Linda outside the restaurant.

We originally had plans to travel to Vero Beach tomorrow which is only 14 miles but now it looks like we will go on to Melbourne if we can get dockage. We do have reservations at Cocoa Beach for Thursday night through Monday so we can see the shuttle launch plus get some boat work done.

Our current position is N 27 26.982 W 80 19.364
