Marathon, FL - 2/2/11 (day 4)

Wednesday was a slow down day for us. We all slept in then had a big breakfast on the boat which was prepared by the master chef and captain which happens to be the same person. Ricki and Dianne decided to inventory the chest freezer we have on board to see what we could have for dinner. Elliott, the pink panther was a big help in the process.

While waiting on all the other folks to get ready for a road trip, I walked around the marina to look for any other loopers that might be here. Since this place has a very high percentage of folks wintering here year after year, they only have a few slips available for transits and no other loopers were here. I took a few pictures of the resort and marina to share. This one is the back side of the resort that faces the pool, tennis courts, bar and restaurant.

The pool and Tiki bar with the restaurant and another bar on the far side of the pool.

There are 4 tennis courts.

Our boat is on the other (canal) side of the resort. The slip right behind us was occupied when we came in by a 40 foot Mainship that only had the slip until Tuesday. Another boat had a reservation but hasn't shown up yet.

Looking the other way from our boat has another 8 or 10 seawall slips then around the far corner there are 30 or 40 stern tie slips. We have water, cable and pump out at each slip.
We had planned to go to the Turtle Hospital for our activity today but it was 3 p.m. when we got there and the next program was at 4 p.m. and we still had one more important stop to make (West Marine) so we opted out. At West Marine we ran into Darrell and Sue from Present Moment who are at the first marina coming into the canal. We are at the last and plan to dinghy out to their marina soon which is a ride of a mile or so. Dinner tonight was steak on the boat grill with a yummy dessert.

I have made contact with a prop shop to fix the one I screwed up coming through the Venice GICW channel and will take it over tomorrow morning. They can fix it the same day which is nice before the Hanna's leave with their van on Friday.
