Melbourne, FL - 5/11/11

Quest, along with our cruising friends Moor $tuff & Lucky One, left ft. Pierce City Marina this morning at 9:40 a.m.

Prior to leaving, we had bloody marys on the dock behind our boats with Skip & Barb's friends from Washington state.

Huen & Cricket (Lucky One) preparing to cast off.

We traveled north on the Indian River (AICW) and again saw many lovely homes along the river.

The only problem with all these gorgeous homes .... it makes you very humble!

Enlarge this one and check out the eagle taking flight. Boy am I good with the camera

Sometimes the nesting egrets make finding the markers a little tough. This one is full of babies.

Several little sandy islands started popping up. I would assume they are formed from dredging ... just a guess.

Today we were second in the parade with Lucky one right behind us.

We were accompanied by a couple dolphins for about 15 minutes or so today. This was the first time they have played with us for several months. Of course Ricki spent the time hanging over the rail taking pictures and movies of them jumping in our bow wake.

We entered Melbourne Harbor Marina at 3:45 after traveling 48 miles today. We are now approaching 3,100 miles of our adventure which seems impossible. It has gone so fast even though we are prone to "piddle" along at times.

Tomorrow we will go the short distance to Cocoa, FL where we will stay though the weekend and hopefully see the shuttle lift off on Monday morning. We have discovered that cruising in Florida on the weekends you get rocked really bad by the inconsiderate local boaters so we try to travel through the week when possible.

Our position in Melbourne is N 23 04.669 W 80 36.053

  1. You may want to correct your log for your position in Melbourne Harbor to 28 degrees NOT 23 degrees
